Dear Mr. Peters:
-Your Quality Assurance Program Ahproval No. 0532 is hereby terminated. The-2 Nuclear Regulatory Commission pu)lished a final- rule, effective June 27, 1997, revising-the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34 " Licenses for Industrial Radiog,'aphy and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic
-0perations." The revision. which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (QA) requirements for L- transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval-is no longer needed. <
L Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph, 10 CFR-71,101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires
- that-inspection and maintenance arograms limited to radiographic-exposure devices, source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b),_or equivalent Agreement State regulations. satisfy the general license-requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
