Dear Mr. Gipson:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued the enclosed Amendment No.16 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-9 for Enrico Fermi Atomic Power Plant, Unit 1 (Fermi 1)

. (Enclosure 1). The amendment consists of changes to the Fermi i Technical Specifications (TS) in response to your application dated April 20,1999.

The amendment revises the TS by deleting surveillance requirement D.3.c, which required j weekly observation of the nitrogen cover gas pressure within the sodium storage tanks located in l the sodium building. - A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed (Enclosure 2). j The notice ofissuance (Enclosure 3) will be included in the NRC's next regular biweekly I Federal Recister notice.  !
