SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT, LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED SEPTEMBER 8, 1987, RE PHYSICAL SECURITY PLAN UPDATE
Background
On September 8,1987, Ceco submitted an application for ifcense amendment requesting authorization of an updated Physical Security Plan. :
Discussion Once the construction phase of Braidwood Unit 2 concludes and contractor traffic in the fuel handling area is reduced, CECO believes the temporary security barriers ;
described in the " Security Plan for the Braidwood. Nuclear Power Station" will no longer be required. Ceco has requested removal of the temporary barriers and that the entire fuel handling building be governed by the " Security Plan for the Braidwood Nuclear Power Station" as a controlled access area. The request has t been reviewed and found acceptable by the Division of Safeguards and Transportation.
This licensing action is in accordance with 10 CFR 51.22(c)(12) and therefore, neither an Environmental Impact Statement nor an Environmental Assessment is warranted.
Findino/ Recommendation The staff finds that the proposed change in the license will have no adverse effect on the public health and safety or on the environment. Approval of the application is recommended.
