, . Since 1980, the UNC Recovery Systems (UNC) has been decontaminating the' scrap;

' recovery facility and site. At the present time, UNC has less than one truckload of waste material onsite. This will be shipped offsite when the NRC indicates that no. additional decommissioning work is required.

' 0ak' Ridge Associated Universities (0RAU) has performed independent surveys for the NRC. .The purpose of the' surveys is to confirm that levels of residual radioactive contamination! are below regulatory limits. A final report from ORAU is expected within the next 2 weeks.

Following review of the ORAU report, the staff will offer to meet with Rhode Island State Officials.to discuss the survey results. Following this meeting, the staff expects to terminate the NRC license. .
