!iUUJECT: APPRECIATION OF REGULATORY REVIEW EFFORT The review efforts of the NRC staff and consultants on the DOE's Prototype License Application Safety Analysis Report (PLASAR) for the Earth-Mounded Concrete Bunker (EMCB) alternative method of low-level waste disposal was completed June 30, 1989. These efforts were a major undertaking that resulted in the development of three final review products which induced (1) an Executive Summary, (2) Safety Evaluation Status Report, and (3) Review Comments and Questions.
I consider the work products of the review team members, who are listed on the attachment, to be of high quality and a credit to the Agency. I commend thc staff and consultants for a job well done, and extend to each of you nty sincere appreciation for your dedicated effort.
