PERSONNEL INJURY DUE TO NONRADIOLOGICAL INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT '

An equipment operator was injured at approximately 11:30 a.m. on 4/9/76 when a Gantry crane in the radioactive waste drumming area came off its trolley, struck a drum and then struck the operator. Preliminary

' examination at the hospital indicates the employee may have sustained a possible broken leg and possibly three broken ribs. No radioactive -

i contamination or personal radiation exposure resulted from the occurrence.

I No press release is presently planned by the region. Our headquarters j public affairs officer was notified of the injury.

Region III, Chicago, received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the station superintendent at 1:45 p.m.*4/9/76.
