Clark, Chief, Gas Cooled Reactors Branch, L PHONE CALL FR0tt CO)MISSIONER DOUB'S OFFICE CONCERNING THE HANFORD NO. 2 SCIEDULE Mr. Martin Damagale of Commissioner Doub's office called on October 31, 1972 to discuss the Blue Book schedule for Hanford No. 2. He was inter-ested in the two target dates shown for the public hearing. He uma told that the current schedule date is 1-30-73. He then asked if we still expect the hearing to be uncontested. We told him that to date the only requests to appear that we have seen were for " limited appearance" to speak in favor of the project. We also indicated that the 30 days period fron notice in the Federal Register for potential intervenors to indicate their intent to intervene had elapsed.

He asked whether the U.S.G.S. and N.O.A.A. reports had been received.

He was told that a rough draf t U.S.C.S. report had been received in which they had expressed a concern on the site geology. Uc told him that we had recently met with the applicant and requested that he provide some additional clarifying and confirmatory information on his site geology. The applicant has already initiated work to collect this information. In addition we told him that though this may have an affect on one milestone we do not expect any impact on the over-all schedule i.e. Public Hearing dates.
