Renewal for Nuclear Power Plants: Scone of Environmental Effects Gentlemen:
The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is interested in pursuing renewed operating b licenses for the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. We believe that continued safe operation beyond the current 40-year license' terms is technically and economically i 1 feasible, and can be achieved with beneficial results to the environment. We believe the environmental reviews associated with the issuance of renewed licenses can be ;
performed : in a straightforward fashion, We strongly recommend NRC take care not to unnecessarily complicate the license' renewal process by making the scope of the
- l. required reviews of environmental effects needlessly expansive. Baltimore Gas and L--
Electric Company has participated in Nuclear Management Resources Council's (NUMARC) ,
l efforts to develop industry comments on this ANPR We endorse the comments in their -
