SUBJECT:

OVERSIGHT WORKINC GROUP - RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM STRATEGIC REVIEW IMPLEMENTATION

Dear Mr. Salter:

This letter is in response to your invitation for NRC, incident Response Operations, to participate as a representative on the Oversight Working Group (OSWG) for implementation of the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Program Strategic Review. I recognize the benefits and importance of the OSWG to the REP community.and strongly support this effort.

As such, I would like to designate Ms. Leigh Trocine as our representative, it is my understanding that this was discussed during a conversation between Dr. Charles L. Miller of my

- staff and Mr. William Wark on April 23,1999.

Ms. Trocine has been a Headquarters Operat, ons Officer / Nuclear Systems Engineer on my staff for over 4 years and is very knowledgeable of the role of the Federal government in responding to radiological emergencies. She has held a number of other highly responsible positions in her l' 15 years with NRC, including assignments in our Region ll offica in Atlanta and an assignment as a resident inspector at ths Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. Ms. Trocine was stationed at the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant when Hurricane Andrew struck, and experienced first hand how the Federal govemment responds to major natural disasters. I believe she will be a valuable contributor to the efforts of the OWSG.

I If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact me at (301)415-7478 or l ficanrc.aov.

Sincerely,  !
