RESULTS OF PERIODIC REVIEW OF REGULATORY GUIDE 5.79 The Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR)/ Division of Physical and Cyber Security Policy (DPCP) staff has reviewed regulatory guide (RG) 5.79, Protection of Safeguards Information. As discussed in Management Directive 6.6, Regulatory Guides, the NRC staff reviews RGs approximately every 10 years to ensure that the RGs continue to provide useful guidance. The results of the staffs review of RG 5.79, Rev. 0 are summarized in the enclosed document.
Based on the results of the periodic review, the staff concludes that no changes to RG 5.79, Revision 0 are warranted. However, the staff will monitor operating experience regarding recordkeeping with respect to material control and accounting over the next 10-year period to determine whether additional concerns develop that would warrant a revision of RG 5.79 at the next periodic review.
