NRC INSPECTION REPORT 999 90003/97-03
Dear Mr. Sipe:
This refers to the s)ecial, announced inspection conducted by this office on June 19, 1997. At tie conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with you. The enclosed NRC Inspection Report 999 90003/97 03 documents that inspection.
The inspection was conducted as a result of information received from a member of the NRC Inspector General's staff attending training at your facility concerning the discovery of a 1 microcurie cobalt 60 button source in one of l the classrooms. The inspection consisted of interviews with you, members of l your staff, and a State of Georgia environmental radiation specialist. I No violations of NRC requirements or safety concerns were identified during the inspection.
We understand that your investigation is still ir progress. We would appreciate a copy of the report when your investigation is concluded.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a co)y of this letter, its enclosure, and any reply will be placed in the NRC Pu)lic Document Room.
