This is to confirm my phone call on July 1, 1974 to Mr. John Hannon to report Abnormal Occurrence 74-12 at Ginna Station. ,
On Saturday, June 29, 1974 the Auxiliary Operator noticed a vapor in the charging pump room. Further investigation found the vapor to be coming from a leak in the weld that connects the 3/4" vent valve to the 3/4" nipple on the charging pump discharge half of the charging pumps discharge filter.
1 The PORC met and recccmended that the plant be brought to a cold shutdown !
condition to replace the valve. The unit was taken off the line at 1330 '
on June 29, 1974. Repairs were completed at 0330 on June 30, 1974 and the '
unit returned to service at 0430 on July 1,1974.
