Subject:

Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Units Nos. 1 & 2; Dockets Nos. 50-317 & 50-318 NUREG-0737, Item II.B.3 Post Accident Sampling System

Reference:

Letter from R. A. Clark to A. E. Lundvall, Jr.,

dated 6/30/82; same subject Gentlemen:

In the referenced letter, we were requested to make a submittal documenting our compliance with the criteria of NUREG-0737, Item II.B.3.

We will provide the requested information within 120 days of this letter.

As our system was designed to satisfy the requirements of NUREG-0737, Item II.B.3, we will address the position and points of clarification supplied to us in that document in detail. In view of the fact that the

" clarification" items as listed with your letter of June 30, 1982 were not identified in timely fashion, we feel that a response is inappropriate.

The design and procurement of this system has been based upon the require-ments of NOREG-0737, Item II.B.3, and to deviate per the specs suggested by the more recent " clarification" items would cause an unreasonable addi-tional expenditure of resources.

We will continue with our efforts to design a system to satisfy the requirements of NUREG-0737, Item II.B.3. If you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to call me.

Yours very truly,

//
