SUMMARY

OF WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY 2018 FUEL PERFORMANCE UPDATE MEETING (EPID: L-2018-LRO-0011)

On July 17-18, 2018, Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) held 2018 Westinghouse Fuel Performance Update Meeting at the Westinghouse Office in Rockville, MD.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, the Office of New Reactors and the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research was in attendance.

Westinghouse presented proprietary information regarding Westinghouse fuel performance and future plans. Topics of discussion were pressurized-water reactor (PWR) fuel performance update, AXIOMTM fuel rod cladding, accident tolerant fuel program, nuclear safety advisory letter 14-5 critical heat flux data testing ODEN 12 update and future testing plans, incremental high burnup extension, boiling-water reactor fuel performance & methods update (TRITON11TM fuel, HiFiTM cladding, POLCA-T system analysis code, calculation of mixed cores), additive manufacturing implementation update, PWR methods updates (Westinghouse thermal design procedure, NEXUS nuclear data methodology, PARAGON2 transport code, reactivity insertion accident), Westinghouse Performance Analysis and Design Model (PAD5) and FULL SPECTRUMTM Loss-Of-Coolant Accident Methodology implementation update, and topical reports. By letter dated June 29, 2018, Westinghouse submitted agenda for the upcoming meeting (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18180A222). By letter dated July 12, 2018, Westinghouse submitted presentation slides (ADAMS Accession No. ML18197A425).
