Dear Mr. Davis:
. In response to.the Byron Inspection Report contained in reference j Ma), reference (b) was submitted. In that submittal, supplemental'information-iregarding the Commonwealth Edison. corporate review of the generic ti
. applicability ~of 10 CFR 50.59. safety evaluations was to be provided by ,
- November 1, 1989.1 This. letter provides that information.
Commonwealth Edison has decided that if the following conditions
' exists;
- equipment is taken out-of-service or,- t
- 'there 1s degraded equipment or, '
- an abnormal line-up exists t
- then-'the plant condition will be further evaluated utilizing a screening process to' determine if a 50.59 evaluation is required.
L The: specific screening criteria and the process itself is in undar development. Further information describing the screening process will be -r forthcoming by December 15, 1989.
