Dear Mr. Ippolito:
In the Matter of the ) Docket Nos. 50-259 Tennessee Valley Authority ) 50-260 50-296 Please refer to my letter to you dated November 6, 1979, regarding the low pressure coolant injection system power supply modifications for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. The response to question 5 in that letter presented a schedule for expected shipment of the motor-generator (MG) sets to be installed as part of the
, modifications. As a result of problems in the testing of the MG sets by the vendor, additional delays in the delivery were experienced. This letter is to inform you of these delays and j schedule for the installation.
TVA now plans to install the MG sett during the fall 1980 unit 3 outage, the spring 1981 unit 1 outage, and the spring 1982 unit 2 outage.
Information regarding the safety review of the modified system without the MG sets and revised procedures to ensure safe operation is contained in the response to question 6 of the November 6,1979, letter. The conclusion regarding the acceptability of the design of the power supplies without the MG sets is given in your letter to H. G. Parris dated October 3, 1979.
