Subject:

NUCLEAR PRGJECTS 1 AND 4 CATEGORY I MASONRY WALLS EMPLOYED BY PLANTS UNDER CP AND OL REVIEW

Reference:

Letter, S. A. Varga to All Construction Permit and License Applicants, April 21, 1980.

The reference letter requested all CP and OL applicants to submit infor-mation on the use of Category I Masonry Walls.

There are no satety related supports for utilities such as pipes, struts, conduits attached to masonry walls in WNP-1/4 Projects.

There are masonry walls in Category I c*ructures but these masonry walls do not support safety related systems and components. Also, the collapse of the masonry walls will not damage safety related items.

This concludes our response to the subject letter.

Very truly yours, f
