UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 August 15, 2013 Mr. Adam C. Heflin Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Union Electric Company P.O. Box 620 Fulton, MO 65251
SUBJECT:
SCHEDULE REVISION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION
Dear Mr. Heflin:
By letter dated December 15, 2011, Union Electric Company (Ameren) submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations ( 10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (Callaway), operating license NPF-30, for review by the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). This letter is to inform you of a change in the environmental review schedule for the Callaway license renewal review.
Enclosed is the NRC staff's revised environmental review schedule for the Callaway license renewal application. The schedule is being revised because the NRC staff requires additional time to allow for the internal review of additional items related to the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) in a manner which balances the internal workload across numerous ongoing reviews. The schedule has been updated to reflect a change in the date of the issuance of the draft SEIS and subsequent environmental review milestones.
If you have any questions on the revised schedule you may contact Ms. Carmen Fells, project manager for the Callaway LRA environmental review by telephone at 301-415-6337 or by e-mail at Carmen.Fells@nrc.gov.
