ALLEGATION REPORT RII-2016-A-0014

REFERENCE "The technical experts in the Division of Reactor Safety (DRS), Region II office, who performed an independent technical review of your concerns, requested the original design calculations and the Westinghouse Uprate Evaluation on June 30, 2016, in order to better understand original and current design and licensing bases of the system. The following additional observation is based on a review of available original design calculations used to size the canal that were stamped and approved by a registered professional engineer (PE). This observation is offered as supporting information on the effect of depth changes in the canal system.

Included in the original design information provided to the DRS technical experts was a Professional Engineer signed and stamped document, 'The Engineering and Design of the Turkey Point Cooling Reservoir,' dated June, 1972. The document, which was noted as an interim report, was used to evaluate the thermal performance of a variety of cooling water reservoir options subjected to present and projected plant operating conditions specific to Turkey Point Power Station. This document was used to recommend the size of the canal system."
