STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: EVALUATION REPORT OF NRC S NETWORK STORAGE INTERRUPTION (OIG-17-A-19)
REFERENCE:
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER, OFFICE OF THE CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER, MEMORANDUM DATED February 14, 2018 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated February 14, 2018.
Based on this response, recommendation 1 is closed and recommendations 2, 3 and 4 remain resolved. Please provide an updated status of the resolved recommendations by June 30, 2018.

Audit Report THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S EVALUATION REPORT ON NRCS NETWORK STORAGE INTERRUPTION OIG-17-A-19 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 1: Update Acquisition Management Division Acquisition Instruction #2010-06, Contract File - Modification Log, to specify requirements for file documentation that should be included when modifying contract terms.
Agency Response Dated February 14, 2018: The Office of Administrations Acquisition Management Division (AMD) has revised Acquisition Instruction #2010-06 to enhance modification documentation requirements. The updated instruction is available in Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Enterprise Acquisition Toolset (NEAT).
Target Completion Date: Completed OIG Analysis: OIG reviewed the revised Acquisition Instruction and determined that as of February 9, 2018, it was updated to include requirements for file documentation when modifying contract terms. This recommendation is therefore considered closed.
Status: Closed.
Audit Report THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S EVALUATION REPORT ON NRCS NETWORK STORAGE INTERRUPTION OIG-17-A-19 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 2: Develop and implement an internal Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) policy that requires NRC subject matter experts to re-evaluate the storage system architecture.
Agency Response Dated February 14, 2018: The policy for evaluating storage system architecture, including Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS), has been drafted and includes the following activities:
Quarterly Health Checks; Quarterly Performance Reviews; Annual Architecture Review; and Annual Vendor Outreach.
The NRC is on track to complete this recommendation.
Target Completion Date: FY 2018 Q3 OIG Analysis: The proposed action meets the intent of the recommendation. This recommendation will be closed when OCIO demonstrates that a policy was developed and implemented requiring NRCs subject matter experts to re-evaluate the storage system architecture.
Status: Resolved.
Audit Report THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S EVALUATION REPORT ON NRCS NETWORK STORAGE INTERRUPTION OIG-17-A-19 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 3: Develop and implement GLINDA Service Level Requirement(s) that specify required service availability and performance requirements, from an end users perspective, for email access and network file access (e.g., P:, G:, R:, S:
drives).
Agency Response Dated February 14, 2018: The SLR has been developed and included in the SOW for the GLINDA task order for System/Database (DB)
Administration and Compute/Storage. The SLR will be implemented when the contract is awarded and the work transitioned to the awardee.
Revised Target Completion Date: FY 2018 Q3 OIG Analysis: The proposed action meets the intent of the recommendation. This recommendation will be closed when OIG verifies that GLINDA Service Level Requirement(s) were implemented that specify required service availability and performance requirements, from an end users perspective, for email access and network file access.
Status: Resolved.
Audit Report THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S EVALUATION REPORT ON NRCS NETWORK STORAGE INTERRUPTION OIG-17-A-19 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 4: Develop and implement a GLINDA contract governance plan.
Agency Response Dated February 14, 2018: OCIO in conjunction with ADM has developed a plan to govern the GLINDA contract and will enact it as the contract is awarded. To date, there are still two large task orders that have not been awarded. We expect the award to be completed in FY 2018 Q2.
Revised Target Completion Date: FY 2018 Q2 OIG Analysis: The proposed action meets the intent of the recommendation. This recommendation will be closed when OIG validates that OCIO developed and implemented a GLINDA contract governance plan.
Status: Resolved.
