Notes from 12/21/2018 call between NRC (Jean Trefethen) and California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Dylan Wood)
This call took place following the receipt of the CDFW response to the NRCs request for information regarding endangered or threatened species of their critical habitat.
- Threatened Salamander species is present
- Recommended that the Licensee have a California incidental take permit, because the salamander is known to occur. In the event that a salamander is killed this permit could help them avoid potential legal ramifications
- The CDFW also recommend to the extent possible avoid walking/working during rainy nights as this is when salamanders are most likely to be out in the open and thus increasing the probability of inadvertent take could occur.
- Minimal to no harmful effects as there is no new construction or ground breaking activities. The current ongoing activities, including the physical facility will likely also have minimal effects to the California Tiger Salamander.
- Should not be any harmful effects to having the ISFSI stay
