OF JULY 9, 2019 PUBLIC MEETING WITH INDUSTRIAL NUCLEAR COMPANY, INC TO DISCUSS THE MODEL NO. IR-100ST

Background

This was a category 1 public meeting between Industrial Nuclear Company, INC (INC), and U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss the Model No. IR-100ST. Regulatory commitments were not made at the meeting. The meeting was noticed on June 10, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19161A010).

The list of meeting attendees is provided in Enclosure 1. The publicly available meeting presentation slides are provided as Enclosure 3.

Meeting Summary On July 9, 2019, NRC staff held a public meeting with INC representatives. The discussion followed the agenda provided in Enclosure 2. After providing information about a source tracking system, an overview of the package and its contents was provided. After the test plan was presented, NRC staff discussed with INC the polyurethane foam specifications, its properties and its performance under the hypothetical accident fire test conditions. In addition, NRC staff and INC representatives also discussed how the components of the source tracking system (i.e., the lithium batteries and the thermoplastic enclosure) might perform under the hypothetical accident fire test conditions. After discussing submittal timing, the meeting was adjourned.
