Augusta Technical College Nuclear Engineering Technology Workforce (NETwork) Scholars Program Executive Summary:
Augusta Technical College proposes to continue its Nuclear Engineering Technology Workforce (NETwork) Scholars Program from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018. The goals of this program are to further the accomplishments of the previously funded project to recruit and train students for work in a nuclear environment; as well as, provide scholarships to at least 16 students. It is anticipated that participants in the NETwork scholars program will benefit from scholarships and the ability to prepare for rewarding careers in the nuclear industry.
This two-year program will serve at least 16 students enrolled in the following Associate of Applied Science programs: Nuclear Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Chemical Technology, and Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology specialization). Additionally, students enrolled in the Industrial Mechanical diploma program students will be served.
The objectives of the Augusta Technical College NE Twork Scholarship program are:
- 1. To recruit and matriculate at least 16 students through the NETwork Scholarship program. 2. Provide pre
-employment testing workshops and testing opportunities customized for the nuclear industry.
- 3. Increase engagement of the service area's nuclear employment community in recruiting, retaining and employing NETwork participants.

Lakeshore Technical College (LTC) Nuclear Technology Scholarship Program Executive Summary:
The project objective is to provide scholarships to 21 full
-time students in Lakeshore Technical College's Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety/ Health Physics Programs. The project benefit is full scholarships allow students to enroll full
-time and complete their degree in two years, filling industry need for use and safety of nuclear technologies. Students receiving scholarships are 20% more likely to successfully complete courses, 40% more likely to graduate from college, and 80% more likely to attend college full
-time than students not receiving scholarships.

Concise Statement of the Project's Objectives and Benefits Having successfully managed/awarded two NRC Scholarship grants by awarding 43 and 42 scholarships respectively, Thomas Edison State University now seeks funding from the NRC to administer another two
-year scholarship program that will award 30, $2,000
- $10,000 scholarships based on financial need and academic performance, to qualified University students seeking career
-required technical Associate degrees and matriculated in Associate in Science Nuclear Energy Engineering, Electronics Systems Engineering Technology, Radiation Protection Engineering Technology, Computer/Information Technology, and Environmental, Safety, and Security Technology Degree Programs. The scholarships will support qualified, high-potential students who are active
-duty Navy Nuclear and other Military Service members, veterans; and students who started but could not complete the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP). The University's transfer policy and acceptance of nuclear industry/military assessed training enables many students to transfer many credits toward an Associate's degree. In addition, the University's students usually work in nuclear energy, such as military, commercial nuclear facilities, DOE national laboratories, and are seeking career
-required technical Associate's degrees. The objective of the scholarship program is to increase student retention, help students graduate in a timely manner, and enter or experience professional growth in the nuclear safety and security sector.
