RESPONSE TO JULY 3, 2013, LETTER REGARDING INDUSTRY COMMENTS ON DRAFT FUEL CYCLE CYBER SECURITY ORDER, REQUIREMENTS, AND GUIDANCE

Dear Mr. Walters:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) appreciates the industry comments provided in your July 3, 2013, letter regarding potential ne w cyber security requirements for fuel cycle facilities. Over the past several months, the discussions between the NRC staff and the industry have helped the industry understand the threat and vulnerabilities and provided the staff with valuable insights into licensees' perspective on the proposed cyber security requirements. The NRC staff will utilize the information in your letter to better inform the proposed cyber security initiative.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulation 2.390(d) of the NRC "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be av ailable electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System component of NRC's document system (Agencywide Document Access Management System [ADAMS]). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reding-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
