Advisory Committee on the Me dical Uses of Isotopes Membership Balance Plan

1. Committee Name: Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI)
2. Authority. Established pursuant to 42 United States Code §2201 as a Nuclear Regulatory Commission discretionary committee.
3. Mission/Function. The Committee provides advice, as requested by the Director, Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs (MSST), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), on policy and technical issues that arise in regulating the medical use of byproduct material for diagnosis and therapy. The Committee may provide consulting services as requested by the Director, MSST.
4. Points of View. The membership includes health care professionals of diverse specialties who represent diagnostic and therapeutic applications of medicine, medical administration, and patient care advocacy.

6. Candidate Identification Process. Public announcements and Federal Register Notices are published seeking candidates for vacancies on the Committee. Professional Societies are contacted and encouraged to nominate candidates and solicit interest from their members. Submitted resumes are reviewed by a selection panel and the Director, MSST appoints members based upon the selection panel's recommendations.
7. Subcommittee Balance. The Committee does not use subcommittees.
