August 13 , 2018 Enclosed is an application (XB1337), dated July 16, 2018 , from Thermo Gamma Metrics , LLC , received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission , for the export of two sealed sources , each containing 0.0012 TBq of Californium-252 , contained in an element analyzer device used to measure material composition

.. Being that Iraq is on the embargoed destinations list (10 CFR Part 110.28), before taking action on this request , we would appreciate your views , in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch , as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 , as amended. Please note that the Authorization Certificate for Importing Radioactive Sources , submitted with the application , is expiring in November 2018; and th t the applicant is coordinating with its customer in Iraq to have the certificate renewed.
