Thank you for your September 10, 2008, letter (ML082610304) in reply to my August 7, 2008 letter (ML082200290) summarizing the analytical approach and requesting information that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) may use in its analysis to evaluate Generic Issue 199, "Implications of Updated Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Estimates in Central and Eastern United States on Existing Plants." While you are preparing your information, NRC will proceed with its current plan for the analytical approach under the Safety and Risk Assessment Stage of the Generic Issue Program as outlined in the August 7, 2008, letter. When the Nuclear Energy Institute information becomes available, we will consider it as appropriate and will be happy to hold a public meeting as warranted.
