January 24, 2014 Mr. Kristopher Cummings

Senior Project Manager

Nuclear Energy Institute

1201 F Street NW, Suite 1100 Washington, DC 20004

Dear Mr. Cummings:

It is my sincere pleasure to invite you to participate as a speaker at NRC's 26 th Regulatory Information Conference (RIC). The RIC will be held on March 11-13, 2014, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda, MD 20852.

This 3-day Annual Conference is co-sponsored by the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, and brings together more than 3,000 participants from over 30 countries representing interested parties from government, industry, international agencies, other interested stakeholders, and members of the public. The RIC fosters an open and transparent communication about NRC actions planned or in progress related to emergent issues, and offers a valuable forum to share different perspectives on technical process and procedure issues and other matters facing the nuclear industry.

We request your participation as a technical session panelist in the session entitled, Future Vision of Spent Fuel Storage Regulations, chaired by myself, Michele Sampson, NMSS. The session will give participants an opportunity to learn about initiatives to support future licensing actions such as certificate and storage license renewals. We will also be discussing NRC expectations for Aging Management Plans and industry insights on the spent fuel storage regulations. Your presentation and the presentations of other panel members will help engage dialogue and stimulate questions and comments from session participants.

Mr. Jeremy Smith will be the Coordinator for this session, and can be reached by phone at 301-287-0928, or via email at Jeremy.smith@nrc.gov

.

We hope you are able to accept this invitation, and if you can participate, we request that you complete and return the enclosed Speaker Information and Confirmation, Biographical Information and signed External Speaker Agreement to Mr. Smith by January 31, 2014 to ensure inclusion in the final printed program.

Lastly, you can find RIC-related news and up-to-date conference information by navigating from the NRC's official public website at http://www.nrc.gov/.

We look forward to seeing you at the RIC!

Sincerely,

/RA/

Michele Sampson, Chief Licensing Branch Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards
