Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 I.E.Bulletin 85-03 Motor Operated Valve Common Mode Failures Gentlemen:
On March 18, 1986 L. D. Butterfield, Chairman of the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG), notified Mr. T. Novak, Acting Director of Licensing PWR-A (NRR), that some utilities may need to request an extension for responding to I.E.Bulletin 85-03 due to the completion date of the generic evaluation performed by Westinghouse for the WOG. Duquesne Light Company participated with other WOG members in sponsoring this generic study.
The information required by IEB 85-03 necessitates that a plant l specific application of the WOG study be performed. Additionally, motor I operated valve design criteria is required from Westinghouse. To allow time
! for receipt of this information and for incorporation into the Beaver Valley Unit 2 motor operated valve testing and maintenance programs, Duquesne Light I
Company requests a ninety (90) day extension to the date for the first report i required by IEB 85-03. This report will be submitted no later than August 15, l 1986.
