COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION 0F CABLE TO POST-LOCA HIGH RANGE RADIATION MONITOR SDAR: CP-87-05 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On April 6,1987, we verbally notified your Mr. C. Hale of a deficiency involving the failure of High Range Radiation Monitor (HRRM) coaxial cables to meet the minimum cable environmental qualification for dielectric insulation requirements. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFREO.55(e).
We have reviewed the Sorrento Electronics (SE) 10CFR21 Notification and have verified that it is applicable to CPSES equipment. This notification affects
, the following equipment for Units I and 2:
- 1) High range radiation monitors (1-RE-6290A&B; 2-RE-6290A&B)
- 2) Cables (EG028511Z, EG028512Z, EG028682Z, and EG028683Z) between the HRRH detector and the HRRM field mounted microprocessor (RM-80).
The specific deficiency relates to the dielectric insulation resistance required of the sub, Ject cables to allow the HRRM to operate within the guidelines established by Regulatory Guide 1.97. The cable dielectric insulation resistance failed to meet minimum requirements.
