Enclosed is a National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Marine Mammal and Marine Turtle Stranding Report for a live elephant seal (Mirounga angustirostris)discovered in a recess between adjacent concrete tri-bars on the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP)
#7007-0220-0004-6736-0321 Enclosed is a National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Marine Mammal and Marine Turtle Stranding Report for a live elephant seal (Mirounga angustirostris) discovered in a recess between adjacent concrete tri-bars on the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP)
Intake Cove Breakwater. The elephant seal was discovered the afternoon of June 27, 2008, and appeared unable to move from the location on its own.

Personnel from the Marine Mammal Center successfully assisted the juvenile elephant seal back into the waters of the Intake Cove later that afternoon (June 2 7 th) where it was free to exit to the Pacific Ocean. The elephant seal had an orange identification tag on the left rear flipper numbered.20072. Upon assist and release, the animal appeared unharmed with the exception of a few minor scrapes observed on the head.
Personnel from the Marine Mammal Center successfully assisted the juvenile elephant seal back into the waters of the Intake Cove later that afternoon (June 2 7th) where it was free to exit to the Pacific Ocean.
