OF SITE AUDIT RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 From November 7-10, 2011, a review team consisting of staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and contractors from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PI\II\IL) conducted a site audit at Limerick Generation Station, Units 1 and 2 (LGS), related to the environmental review of the LGS license renewal application. The primary goal of the site visit was to review documentation, gather information to ensure that the environmental requirements of license renewal as codified in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 51 (10 CFR Part 51) were met, and to interface with officials in Federal, State, and local government agencies to obtain related information. Enclosed is a list of representatives from the NRC, its contractors, other government agencies, and Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) who participated in the site audit.

SUMMARY

OF SITE AUDIT RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 From November 7-10, 2011, a review team consisting of staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and contractors from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PI\\II\\IL) conducted a site audit at Limerick Generation Station, Units 1 and 2 (LGS), related to the environmental review of the LGS license renewal application.

The audit began on November 7,2011, with a kickoff meeting to introduce participants and to discuss logistics of the audit. Following the kickoff meeting, the environmental review team participated in a general site tour of LGS with Exelon staff. The general site tour provided an ecological overview of the site and focused on areas relevant to the environmental review.

During the remainder of the site audit, the environmental review team examined data used by Exelon in preparation of the Environmental Report and met in smaller groups with Exelon representatives with corresponding environmental expertise. These groups participated in various activities, including tours of onsite National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitted outfalls; Delaware River make-up water system; radiological waste processing and storage areas; low-level radioactive waste storage facility: radioactive effluent systems, radiological monitoring stations; meteorological towers and monitoring equipment: and in-scope transmission line rights-of-way.

The environmental review team also met onsite with officiais from Delaware River BaSin Commission and Pennsylvania Department of EnviiOnmentai Protectio'l. Information gathered through participation of these agencies will assist the envirO(lrYlHltal review team in its evaluation.

In addition, the team reviewed the LGS process for identifying new and significant information (information that would challenge the generic conclusions reached in the Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants. NLJREG**1437). LGS cited no new and significant information, and the team's independent review during the course of the site audit did not identify any either.

-2 At the conclusion of the site audit, the environmental review team summarized the status of the review with LGS representatives. Most of the team's questions were answered through the conduct of the audit. Those that were not will be answered by LGS as it responds to the team's request for additional information letter (ADAMS accession number ML12041A443).

While the NRC review team did not identify any significant issues during its site audit or during the meetings with other participants, the team indicated that the environmental review was ongoing and that any additional information necessary to support the review would be formally requested.
