Norma,

Right now my Operations & Nuclear Safety Group will not begin the activities necessary to perform the shipment back to SRS until we have the approval. We applied yesterday to the New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) for an additional 180 days above surface storage extension. We are hopeful that the additional 180 day extension from NMED will be granted however, the sooner we get the approval from your organization the sooner our organizations at the WIPP Site can start their activities to support the shipment back to SRS.

What would be the impact of not providing the response to you by 5/24/23? My understanding is that you would not ne able to ship the package. Any other impact that I pr my management should be aware of?
