SUBJECT:

NRC I&E BULLETIN N0.79-01B ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF CLASS 1E EQUIPMENT

Dear Mr. Grier:

The Architect-Engineer for the FitzPatrick Plant has indicated that it cannot complete the required 90 day report for the subject bulletin within the prescribed time. The Architect-Engineer has indicated that as of this date, they have not re-ceived any responses from the nuclear steam supply vendor and that responses from a number of other vendors has been slow. As a result, any responses which might be submitted within the 90 day requirement date would be incomplete for a large number of compon-ents.

In addition, since the Architect-Engineer's office is located in New York City, the transit strike has had considerable impact on their ability to complete the necessary work in that most employees cannot work overtime.

Accordingly, the FitzPatrick Plant requests an extension for submitting the written report required by Paragraph 7. (b) of the bulletin until May 15, 1980.
