LAR-19-018: PCS Wetted Perimeter Test Modification Hi Nick -

As mentioned previously, the staff has met to discuss LAR 19-018 regarding PCS Wetted Perimeter Test Modification. The staff would like to discuss the following discussion topics on January 9, 2020. The purpose of the call is to gain additional understanding so the NRC staff can verify that measuring the wetted perimeter at a different location does not change the wetted surface area as credited in the design basis analysis.

Can you please let me know if SNC and WEC are able to support a discussion on January 9?

1. Can SNC and WEC step through the methods/testing in WCAP-15846 that were used to determine why 90% wetted perimeter coverage is equivalent at the 266 elevation and the 244 elevation?
2. Is the difference in measurement location accounted for in the engineering evaluation relative to the ITAAC acceptance criteria? Did SNC account for measurement uncertainty and obstructions such as baffle supports and lifting lugs?
Thanks, Jennie Jennie Rankin, Project Manager Vogtle Project Office Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
