601 w ferry street buffalo, NY, 14222 Email: lhs1@buffalo.edu General Comment Dear USNRC This process is much too important to happen without thorough vetting in many communities -- 20 million people live and work within a 50 mile radius of Indian Point and they should have a hearing.
Second, Holtec has a criminal record and should not be allowed to do business in New York. They, themselves, manufacture the casks they want to use for high level radioactive waste storage. The casks have thin walls and are inferior to thicker walled casks used abroad. Quick and cheap is how they have done business. There is no reason to think it will be any different at Indian Point.
Third, as you know, decommissioning Indian Point is not business as usual. Decommissioning is a complicated process that will affect the long term health and safety of the Hudson River Valley and the lives of 20 million people who live and work in the area surrounding the reactors. We demand that NRC respond to NYS situation, including the existing of pipelines under the Nuclear plant and insist that all be protected by requiring the bonding to ensure guarantee of completing.
