70-687/85-05 This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. J. Roth of this office on July 9 - 12, 1985 at the Sterling Forest Research Center, for the purpose of reviewing the licensed program at your facility.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
