Dear Mr. Grier:

NRC IE BULLETIN No. 79-02, REV. 2 PIPE SUPPORT BASE PLATE DESIGN USING CONCRETE EXPANSION ANCHOR BOLTS NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION In reply to IE Bulletin No. 79-02 (Revision No. 2), dated November 8,

1979, PSE&G offers the following response:

To date, no seismic Category I pipe supports have been attached to block walls at Hope Creek.

Futhermore, all pipe support designs with loads in excess of 1,000 pounds require prior approval of the civil group.

In order to develop the option to mount safety-related and nonsafety-related pipes and other items on block walls, a general design criteria is being written to cover block wall attachments. This general criteria would then be used to revise engineering design criteria for detailed design use.

In the future, support attachments will be controlled by this design criteria.

Should additional information be desired, we will be please to further discuss it with you.

Very truly yours,
