NRC INSPECTION REPORT 999-90003/99002(DNMS)

Dear Mr. Main:

This refers to the inspection conducted on April 23,1999, at your Greenwood, Indiana, facility. The inspection was to review the circumstance associated with the reported loss / theft of a Loran Control Systems, Model 5310 thickness gauge containing 1.0 curie (37 gigabecquerels (GBq)) of americium-214 that was reported to the NRC on April 10,1999. At the conclusion of the inspection the preliminary findings were discussed with

. you and your staff and on May 26,1999, the results of the inspection were discussed with you and Larry Mackey.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel.

The two apparent violations identified during our April 23,1999 inspection, see enclosed Inspectin: 43 ort 999-90003/99002(DNMS), are currently under review by the NRC. You will be notifs 0 W separate correspondence regarding the results of our review.

In accordoce with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practices," a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
