NRC EXAMINATION REPORT NOS. 50-327/98-302 AND 50-328/98-302

Dear Mr. Scalice:

On September 28 through October 1,1998, the NRC administered operating examinations to employees of your company who had applied for licenses to operate the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2. The written examination was administered on October 5,1998 by members of your training staff. At the conclusion of the examination, the examiners discussed the examination questions and preliminary findings with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.

The facility initially proposed an examination that was inadequate; however, they corrected the deficiencies and provided a good final product. Of the 4 SRO applicants who received the written examinations and operating tests,4 candidates passed the examination, representing a 100 % pass rate.

A Simulation Facility Report is included in this report as Enclosure 2. Facility comments on the written examination and the NRC resolution of these comrnents are included as Enclosure 3 and Enclosure 4. A copy of the written examination questions and answer key, noted as, is available from the members of your training staff.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
