Dear Congressman Olver:

I am responding to your letter of July 17. 1997, on behalf of the Citizens Awareness Network (CAN), to Chairman Jackson of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC),

in a letter to you of June 30. 1997 Deborah 8. Katz.

President of CAN, stated that the NRC had assured CAN that it would be placed on the

• Service List" for the Vermont Yankee (VY) NRC docket, but had not done so.

Previously. NRC received a petition dated December 6, 1996. from Jonathan H. Block. Esq., on behalf of CAN.

We regret any misunderstanding we may have had with Ms. Katz. Since CAN has a petition under review by the RRC. It is appropriate for the organization to receive relevant NRC correspondence.

Effective immediately, we are ) lacing CAN and Mr. Block on the Service List for all NRC correspondence witi Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation and on distribution for other NRC correspondence relating to NRC generic letters and bulletins.

NRC will send this correspondence throughout the period it is considering CAN's petition, in additicn. NRC will transmit separately to CAN and Mr. Block copies of correspwdence related to VY sent from NRC to the licensee between December 6, 1996, and the present.
