.j On July 13,1987,' Mr. R. E. Folker, Vogtle Project Quality Assurance Engineer, notified Mr.

E.

F.

Christnot of the.USNRC-Region II-of a -potentially reportable' condition involving the. Emergency HVAC System.in the Control Room.

In certain accident conditions involving the failure of one diesel generator' train, the possibility exists that a short-circuit. exhaust path could be left in' the Control Room Emergency HVAC ductwork _by partially opened isolation dampers in the failed train.

The isolation dampers. are designed to maintain the position they are in at time of power loss.

No analysis was performed to demonstrate that, with the additional exhaust paths, enough outside air would be brought in to maintain a positive differential pressure in the control room as required i

in Section 6.4.4 of the FSAR.

An engineering evaluation is currently in progress' to determine the potential impacts of this condition on plant safety.

Georgia Power Company expects to complete its evaluation and submit a final report on this condition to the USNRC by September 15, 1987.
