ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT NO.149 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE (POSSESSION ONLY) NO. DPR YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION (TAC NO. M99527) l

Dear Mr. Williams:

The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No.149 to Facility Operating License (Possession Only) No. DPR-3 for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS). This amendment is in response to your application dated September 5,1997, as supplemented by letter dated March 30,1998.

This amendment revises the Technical Specification sections pertaining to minimum water cover over spent fuel, crane travel over spent fuel, and the related bases. The purpose of the amendment is to allow loads of up to 80 tons to travel over the spent fuel pool to accommodate the future removal of spent fuel in shipping and/or transfer casks.

A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. Notice of issuance will be included in the Commission's biweekly Federal Register notice.
