Status of Petition for Rulemaking: PRM-50-123, "Public Protection Actions During a General Emergency" Date: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 3:28:00 PM
I am contacting you to provide a status update on the petition for rulemaking you submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), dated June 1, 2020. In your petition, you requested that the NRC revise its regulations so that protective actions implemented during a General Emergency at a nuclear power plant will most likely do more good than harm when both the possible physical health effects of radiation exposure and protective actions are taken into consideration. The NRC docketed your letter as petition for rulemaking (PRM)-50-123, and the NRC published a notice of receipt in the Federal Register on August 31, 2020 (85 FR 53690). The status of PRM-50-123 can be found at the NRC Rules and Petition page at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc- collections/rulemaking-ruleforum/active/PetitionIndex.html.
