OF THE MAY 24, 2023, PRE-APPLICATION PUBLIC MEETING FOR LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANTS, UNITS 1 AND 2 On May 24, 2023, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to discuss plans for implementation of commitments related to license renewal of Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP), Units 1 and 2. Participants included personnel from the NRC, PG&E, Industry, and members of the public. The slides for PG&Es presentation are available at Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS)

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss plans for implementation of five commitments that PG&E plans to fully implement by December 1, 2028. PG&E provided an overview and proposed schedule for implementing the DCPP license renewal commitments. The license renewal commitments discussed were related to technical areas associated with selective leaching, buried piping, and internal coatings. The NRC staff asked clarifying questions regarding the basis for implementation of the DCPP commitments. Following the presentation and discussions, several members of the public provided comments and asked questions during the public comments portion of the meeting.
