UNITS 1 AND 2 In a letter from Mr. Geoffrey Grant dated July 29,1998, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission forwarded the results of an inspection conducted by your staff at our Point Beach Nuclear Plant.

| The inspection was conducted from May 26,1998, through July 6,1998. The inspection report in91uded one Non-Cited Violation of NRC requirements. The Non-Cited Violation pertains to vendor environmental qualification specifications for the Unit 1 and Unit 2 containment hydrogen ;

| monitors not being incorporated into routine maintenance procedures.

| This letter provides a written response to the Non-Cited Violation, as requested by your letter of July 29,1998.

| Licensee Event Report (LER) 1998-019-00, " Containment Hydrogen Monitor Inoperability," was submitted to the Commission for Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units I and 2 on July 14,1998.
