NEI 99-04 was approved by the NRC for licensee use via- SECY-00-0045, "Acceptance of NE/ 99-04, 'Guidelines for Managing NRG Commitments," and licensees were, Informed that NEI 99-04 was an acceptable process for control of regulatory commitments by the Issuance of Regulatory Issue Summary (RI$) 2000-17, "Managing Regulatory_Commftments made by Power Reactor Licensees to the NRG Staff," on September 21, 2000.

Commitment to enhance Boraflex Monitoring Program no longer necessary.
Statement of commitment:
The Boraflex Monitoring Program for Unit 1 will be enhanced to perform periodic In-situ neutron attenuation testing and measurement of boron areal density for those Boraflex racks tliat remain in use during the period of extended operation. It will also be enhanced to create a new actMty which provides instruction for the trending of silica levels, coupon results, and the results of in-situ testing. Enhancements will be completed prior to the period of extended operation.
Change to commitment:
Commitment terminated with approval of Amendment 234.
Justification for change:
Approved License Amendment 234 Remove Boraflex Credit REDACTED In the background of the LAA It states: "With the elimination of reliance on Boratlex for SFP reactivity control, the Boraflex Monitoring Program and the License Renewal commitment to enhance the program will no longer be necessary and wlll terminate with Implementation of the approved license amendment. a In Section 3.1 of the amendment It states, "As a result, continued performance of the Boraflex monitoring program and the license renewal commitment to enhance the program wlll no longer be necessary. It is the licensee's intent to terminate the monitoring program with implementation of the approved license amendment.*}}
