Gentlemen:
During Unit 1 power operation concurrent with a refueling / maintenance outage on Unit 2, two Unit 1 designated fire barrier LCOs were initiated on March 7, 1986, to streamline administrative handling of previously identified and potentially' inoperable fire doors of the units' common Diesel Generator Building. The subject fire doors are susceptible to intermittently occurring excessive differential pressure conditions which adversely affect closing capability of the doors. The specified seven-day time frame of the involved LCOs was exceeded on March 14, 1986. A plant modification will be installed during the upcoming Unit i refueling / maintenance outage to resolve the subject differential pressure problem. Until the excessive differential pressure problem is resolved, the involved LCOs, with appropriately stationed fire watches, will be maintained.
