Clinton Power Station Construction Schedule Update

==Dear Mr. Denton:==

The USNRC letter dated May 29, 1981, from H. R. Denton to W. J. Kelley, requested Illinois Power Company provide quarterly updates concerning the Clinton 1 construction schedule.
On June 17, the Company officially requested permission from the NRC to load fuel at Clinton on or about July 15, 1986.
The project schedule was revised in. June to incorporate a revised fuel load date of July 15, 1986, as well as an accelerated power ascension test program. The accelerated power ascension test program reduces the duration of testing 3y approximately three and one-half weeks.
During the first few days in July, it was noted that the rate of completing things required for fuel load had decreased significantly in most categories indicating a trend that did not support a July fuel load. Management attention in this area has been further increased through daily management meetings focused on resolving restraints.
On July 10, 1986, a public meeting was held between Company and NRC representatives to review the plant's readiness to receive a low-power operating license.                    In the meeting the Company reported that it expected to be ready to load fuel by August 7, 1986. The current estimate for fuel load is late August 1986.
