GENERIC ISSUE MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM -
FOURTH QUARTER FY-96 UPDATE Attached is the Fourth Quarter FY-96 update of the Generic Issue Management 4
Control System (GIMCS) for your information. This report reflects the
;            following major activities that occurred during the reporting period:
(1)  Two generic safety issues (GSIs) were prioritized and will require resolution:
190    Fatigue Evaluation of Metal Components for 60-Year Plant Life 191    Assessment of Debris Accumulation on PWR Sump Performance              ;
(2)  Five generic issues were identified for prioritization, including s                    three by NMSS.
1 Thus, seven issues remain to be prioritized (see Table 7), three issues remain to be reprioritized (see Table 8), and seventeen GSIs remain to be resolved, including two that are scheduled for resolution in the First Quarter of FY-97 (See Table 4A).
In response to the Commission request in SRM951219A that the staff use "gng acency-wide ceneric issue resolution trackino system," GIMCS has been expanded to track ongoing work on: (a) previously resolved GSIs (see Table 12); and (b) related generic activities (see Table 13).          I will continue to keep you informed of progress in resolving the issues as well as any major problems that might surface during the course of their resolution.
